Happiness Archive

Happiness Archive is a series of engagements and explorations that use text, image, and sound to evoke feelings from contentment to joy. Prioritizing slowness over speed, mundaneness over novelty, the project aims to encourage people to notice the beauty in routine life, inspiring better everyday experiences.

Exhibition Space

The exhibition comprises three sections, Text+Possibility, Image+Observation, and Sound+Imagination. It was on display at the Decker Gallery as part of MICA Grad Show 2017.

1. Text+Possibility

An index presented multiple ways to approach happiness through collecting and organizing moments of delight from various people. It was installed as a participatory wall in the exhibition space, inviting people to respond and add more moments.

2. Image + Observation

A soundless video comprises a series of scenes captured from nature and the built environment. The work aims to inspire people to notice the subtle beauty of their surroundings. The video was projected on the ceiling in the exhibition space, inviting people to lay down and enjoy the moment.

3. Sound + Imagination

A video that elicits joy from the imaginary relation between daily objects and sounds, encouraging people to appreciate mundane things that we interact with every day.
